Round 4 Votes

Round 4 votes are in and there was plenty of movement at the top of the 2018 Phantom Brownlow Medal leaderboard. Let's take a look.

The big mover was Brodie Grundy. The Collingwood big man has been in a rich vein of form over the last three rounds and was instrumental in Round 4, getting the Magpies over the line in an upset win.

Grundy has moved up to outright third position on our leaderboard with 7 votes. But it is possible he could be a little higher if the umpires are generous.

Dustin Martin didn't stay down long. After a quiet Round 3, he was back to his scintillating best, booting 6 goals. Ironically, he is in third place on the Coleman Medal leaderboard too. What can't this guy do?!

With Tom Mitchell having a quiet round for Hawthorn, it means Dusty has now moved to within vote of him on 8 votes total, 1 vote ahead of Grundy.

GWS Giants superstar Stephen Coniglio was amongst the votes again. We now have him on 6 votes, as well as the only player on our leaderboard to have polled in every game so far.

He is definitely a player to watch. He polled 17 votes in 2016, before suffering an injury interrupted season last year. But he looks to be back to his 2016 form and that means he's a genuine Brownlow Medal chance.

Luke Parker is starting to make his move now too. He has polled 26 and 16 votes in the past two seasons, and his likely 3 votes in Round 4 have now seen him move to 5 votes on our leaderboard.

Parker is one to look at in Brownlow Medal betting, because at $26 he represents real value in our opinion.

Other notable performances in Round 4 included Shaun Higgins, Nick Haynes, Brendan Parfitt, Liam Shiels and Elliot Yeo. Those five are expected to poll 3 votes in their retrospective games.

Round 4 - Leaderboard

  • 9 - Tom Mitchell (Haw)
  • 8 - Dustin Martin (Ric)
  • 7 - Brodie Grundy (Col)
  • 6 - Nat Fyfe (Fre)
  • 5 - Stephen Coniglio (Gws)
  • 5 - Ben Brown (Nor)
  • 5 - Bryce Gibbs (Ade)
  • 5 - Jesse Hogan (Mel)
  • 5 - Luke Parker (Syd)
  • 5 - Rory Laird (Ade)

Looking Ahead

Friday night promises to be a classic as the Sydney Swans host the Adelaide Crows on Friday night football.

That match will likely have a big impact on our Phantom Brownlow Medal too, with Luke Parker and Lance Franklin for the Swans, and Rory Laird and Bryce Gibbs for the Crows.

Jesse Hogan and Max Gawn are two players who have polled well for Melbourne so far this season. They come up against Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin of Richmond on Sunday afternoon in what shapes as a crucial match.

Hawthorn will start favourites against North Melbourne on Saturday night. Tom Mitchell will be looking to atone for a quiet Round 4 with a big outing here, so he can extend his lead at the top.

As of July 2nd, betting legislation has changed in Australia, so bookies are now no longer able to offer free bets and bonus bets. But we recommend checking out a site like Ubetfree.com.au which has a wealth of betting resources available for punters.
